The Book and the Movie

The Outsiders movie was a great movie. 1 thing that I liked from the movie was that the movie followed the book almost exactly. The movie looked like it was reading right off the book, that was how accurate the movie was. My favorite part in the book and movie was when the rumble went down between the Greasers and the Socs. If I could watch the movie again I would because the actor really played thier part well, it was like they were actually the characters from the book. The Outsiders is 1 of my favorites in movies.

Summary

Ponyboy walks home after going to the movies when 4 Socs come out and jump him. Before they were about to him Pony's brothers Darrel and Soda arrive. Pony and his friends are labeled a greasers because they live on the poor side of the city and they put alot of grease in their hair. The greasers are rivaled against the Socials who are the rich kids of the city. Pony's best friend Johnny has been jumped by the socs on countless occasions. Johnny was the very jumpy type who would be abused outside and inside his home. 1 thing that Pony loved to do is go to the movies. The night that they went Pony met a girl there known as Cherry Valance who was also a soc. When Johnny and Pony walked home Johnny stayed at the park because he didn't want to go home. So Pony decided to go home, when he got there Darry was upset at him and out of anger hit Ponyboy. Pony was so shocked and scared that he ran back to the park where Johnny was. While they were hanging out a group of socs came to the park. They grabbed Pony and was drowning him. Johnny however out of fear for Pony he took out his switchblade and killed 1 of the mobbers. When Pony came through he ran away with Johnny to a small town known as Windrixville and stayed in an abandoned church. A few weeks passed by and the boys were starving until they were found by 1 of the greasers known as Dallas. Dallas took the boys to get food. While they were eating Johnny decided that he should turn himself in to the police. Pony agreed and they went back to the church. When they got there the church was on fire and there were kids trapped inside. Pony and Johnny went to rescue them. When they were done Johnny was hit with a falling piece of wood. Dallas went in to save him but came out unconscious. The ambulance came to pick them up. At the hospital the doctors said that Johnny might not make it. When Pony went home Darrel told him that there was a rumble between the socs and the greasers. Pony decided that he was going to fight for Johnny. When the greasers got to the rumble the socs were waiting for them. The rumble began when Darrel and a soc threw their first punches. The fight was long but eventually the Socs all ran away in utter defeat. Pony went back to visit Johnny, but when he got there Johnny had died. Dallas took it the worst and ran off. Pony told Darrel and they went after Dallas. When they found Dallas he was being chased by the cops for trying to steal from a grocery store. When the cops finally got to him they had shot him down. A few years passed and Ponyboy was summoned to court to see if Darry was a good guardian. When the meeting ended Ponyboy was let go and allowed to stay with his brothers.

The Outsiders

The Outsiders is about a boy named Ponyboy who is part of a group known as the greasers and he tries to survive a normal life while being tormented and harassed by a group of rich kids known as the Socs or Socials.
